  • This Sri Nagchandreshwar Shivling is seen only on the day of Nagapanchami. The palanquin of Mahakaleshwar starts every year in the month of Shravan from the banks of Kshipra river and returns to the temple after visiting Ujjain.
  • According to religious belief, no king has stayed overnight at this place since the reign of King Vikramaditya. It is said that whoever dared to do this was surrounded and killed.

This temple is open for darshan from dawn till night. Darshan must be done during this time only. While entering the temple, slippers, shoes as well as purses, and leather items are not allowed inside. Shoes must be kept outside the temple where there is a shoe rack.
