Later in the year 1706, Ahilyabai Holkar restored this Parli Vaijnath Jyotirlinga temple. Sanskrit inscriptions related to it are found in this temple. Later Peshwas took care of this temple. Triveni confluence of rivers Brahma, Venu, and Saraswati can be seen at this place. The area is also known as Kantipur, Madhyarekha, Vaijayanti, and Jayanti. Both Shankar and Parvati reside together at this pilgrimage site.

Interestingly, among the twelve Jyotirlingas, only the Parli Jyotirlinga has both Lord Shiva and Parvati together. Hence this city is also known as “Unique Kashi”. So the people of Parli do not need to go for Kashiyatra.

This pilgrimage site is located at a distance of 26 km from Ambejogai in Beed district. Yogeshwari Devi of Ambejogai was married to Vaijnath of Parli. But the bridegroom arrived late and the wedding was postponed. Because of this, the stone idols of all the bridegrooms were made wherever they landed. Also, Yogeshwari stayed away from Parli. Such folklore is prevalent in these parts.

It is believed that Parli Vaijnath Jyotirlinga Temple is almost 2,000 years old. It took 18 years to complete the construction of this temple. This magnificent and exquisite temple is built of stone on the slopes of Mount Meru. and is about 80 feet above the surface of the village.

Parli Vaijnath Temple is the fifth Jyotirlinga among the major Jyotirlingas in India. Many mythological events have happened around this temple. Long ago the gods and demons churned the ocean. At that time 14 gems came out of it. The two gems Dhanvantari and Amrit were hidden in Lord Shankar’s Shivlinga. When the asuras touched this linga idol, flames of fire started emanating from it. Seeing this, Asur ran away.

Later, when the Shiva devotees touched that Shivlinga, streams of nectar began to flow from it. From then till today, touching this Jyotirlinga is the method of getting darshan.

No caste, caste, or gender discrimination is observed in this temple. Anyone can come here and have a darshan easily.

Many useful herbs are found along the river in the hilly areas in the surrounding area of ​​these villages. Hence this Jyotirlinga of Parli is also known as “Vaidyanath”.

As Parli is the place of the union of Shiva-Shakti, it is also the place of the Hari-Har union. Along with Lord Shankara, this festival of Lord Krishna is celebrated on a large scale in this holy land. The water of Harihar Tirtha here is used for the daily worship of Vaidyanath. Major festivals are organized on Gudhipadwa, Vijayadashami, Tripuri Poornima, Mahashivratri, and Vaikunth Chaturdashila.

There is no discrimination between Tulsa and Belpatra in these festivals. A different method of offering Tulsi Patra to Mahadev and Bilva Patra to Vishnu is going on at this place. Rani Ahilyabai had brought a special stone from Trisladevi mountain for the restoration of Vaijnath temple.

There is a gavaksha on the mahadwara of this temple. At sunrise on certain days in the months of Chaitra and Ashwin, the sun’s rays fall directly on the Shivlinga.
