At only 249g, the measly gram shy of the CAA regulation of 2019, at the time, considered any drone less than 250 grams was a toy and was therefore exempt from any type of law. Fast forward to the year, and, guess what, the CAA decided in December 2020 to move the poles so that both powerful Minis 1 & 2 could be under its control umbrella.

The humble consumer drone has transformed both video and image recording, and this drone is one of the best in purpose. The 3-axis gimbal winds like a dream, keeping the image solid no matter what the drone does. A gimbal CMOS camera attached to the gimbal captures 4K sharp blades up to 30 frames per sec, 2.7K up to 30fps, and 1080p up to 60fps. Another cool thing is if you are shooting in 4K mode, you can include 4x zoom to help zoom the subject a bit. It also captures still images with 12mp fine detail on JPEG and RAW.

DJI MINI 2 REVIEW: FLYING PERFORMANCE
Think again if you had never flown a drone before and thought it was just like flying a helicopter model. DJI drones, this one is installed, incredibly easy to fly. Joysticks have an encase soft spring feel to them, and the airplanes in normal mode are well-painted to take into account the ruthless approach that many beginners show for the first time when flying a remote-controlled aircraft.
The closest resemblance, I think, is like driving a car – joysticks have longer travel distances like the car’s accelerator pedal, so everything goes up smoothly and slowly. After all, this type of drone is designed for video recording, so the last thing you want is speedy (for that kind of adventure, you need something like the new DJI FPV).
That being said, if the Dji Mavic Mini 2 is too small, it does not have speed in the speed department – in normal mode, it will reach 22mph, and in Sports mode, it will reach 36mph, which is not very good. In such a soft spot, the GPS-2 Day 2 is also surprisingly stable in the breeze – it will lock in a crowd of satellites and automatically ascend to the same place until the driver plays with the control rods. It will also fly up in the sky for up to 31 minutes, which is remarkable for a plane without this type.
Like most decent drones, everything the camera sees is transmitted to your cell phone that sits comfortably in the hand control. With DJI’s new OcuSync 2.0 on-board technology, this drone will continue to send real-time images from six miles (10km) away. Although it is illegal (legally intended to always fly inside the visible line), this distance is quite surprising.
As was the case with the previous Mavic Mini, the Mini 2 does not include avoidance barriers, so you may need to be extra careful when flying in confined spaces. This reviewer does not think that the lack of avoidance of obstacles is a breach of contract when common-sense rules.
